You already call something else "gait analysis"
In a running shop that phrase means the treadmill shoe-fitting. This measures the running pattern from ankle to head. They do not conflict, and they are not the same thing under two names.
The difference in one paragraph
The fitting on the treadmill looks at how the foot sits and moves in order to pick a shoe category: neutral, stability, more or less support. This tool does not answer that question and it would be nonsense to pretend otherwise. It measures no pressure, no calcaneal eversion angle, and it knows nothing about shoes.
What it does measure is what happens above the foot: cadence, contact time left against right, pelvic drop, knee valgus, how far in front the runner lands, how the trunk is held. And, most useful in a shop, how those numbers differ between two pairs of shoes on the same runner within the same ten minutes.
Where it earns its keep in store
- 1
Two shoes side by side
Twenty seconds in one, twenty in the other, same speed. The app puts the measurements next to each other and flags which differences exceed the spread between stride cycles. That is a different conversation from "which feels better".
- 2
A service you sell separately
A full measurement with a six-page report is something a committed runner will pay for, independently of shoes. What you charge is your call; it costs you from € 20.
- 3
A reason to come back
A second measurement in six months shows what changed. That is an appointment in the diary rather than a mailing list.
- 4
Referring on with something in hand
Spot a large left-right difference and you send someone to a physiotherapist with a report instead of an impression. You leave the judgement there, which is where it belongs.
What you need
- A treadmill with room to film square on beside it, or a ten-metre runway
- A phone with slow motion (60 frames per second minimum, 120 preferred) on a tripod
- A laptop or tablet with a modern browser; that is where the computing happens
- Two to three minutes per measurement, recording included
Frequently asked
- Does it say which shoe someone needs?
- No. It knows nothing about shoes and recommends none. It shows what measurably changes between two shoes that you selected; the choice stays yours and the customer’s.
- Can I say it prevents injuries?
- No, and neither can we. The moment software predicts or prevents an injury it is a medical device with everything that entails. This measures, and stops there. That boundary is in the product, not in the small print.
- Do my staff need training?
- Not to record and run it: there is a one-page recording protocol to tape up beside the treadmill, and the app itself says whether the clip was sound. To interpret the numbers, yes: which is exactly why the report draws no conclusion.
- What happens to customers’ footage?
- Nothing at our end. The video is processed in your own browser; only coordinates reach the server. That saves a great deal of thinking about what you may do with video of customers.
Try it on a colleague
The first analysis is free and complete. Twenty seconds on the treadmill is enough to see what kind of report comes out.

- Running gait analysis for physiotherapists
Measure the running pattern from a slow-motion clip, put it in the notes, and at review see whether anything actually changed. From € 20 an analysis.
- Running gait analysis in sport and exercise medicine
What 2D video can and cannot measure, with the uncertainty stated. For anyone deciding whether a gait measurement will carry what gets built on it.
- For podiatrists: what video gait analysis does not measure
Honest answer: foot and ankle are the weakest part on 2D video. What this adds is what happens above the foot, and what changes when the orthosis goes in.
- Running gait analysis for coaches
Cadence, overstride and contact time as numbers, so that across a season you can show what changed instead of asserting it. From € 20 an analysis.
- Pricing for running gait analysis
Unlimited for € 129 a month, or from € 20 an analysis on a bundle. Bundles do not expire. First analysis free.
- Evidence: how it measures and what has been tested
Which model sits underneath, how gait events are established, what has and has not been validated, and why this is not a medical device.
- Recording protocol for running gait analysis
Camera position, frame rate, clothing and duration. The recording determines the measurement more than the software does, and this is what has to be right.
- Compared: camera, IMU sensors, a motion lab or the naked eye
What camera-based analysis can and cannot do against IMU sensors, a gait lab and assessment by eye. Including the places where the others win.
- Try it: the first analysis is free
One complete analysis with the report, no watermark and no card details. You need a twenty-second slow-motion clip and nothing else.
- Bike fitting with the camera you already own
Measure your client on the trainer from an ordinary clip. Joint angles per crank revolution, adjustments in millimetres, a report for the file. From € 28 an analysis.
- Overpronation: what it is and what it does not predict
What pronation is, why sorting runners into neutral, over- and underpronating says less than long assumed, and what you can usefully look at instead.
